OBITUARY
MRS. J. CHENEY
The death occurred in the Wagga District Hospital yesterday morning of a well known and very highly respected resident of the Humula district for over 60 years, in the person of Mrs. Matilda Jane Cheney, who died after a few weeks illness at the age of 76 years and 11 months. She was the widow of the late Mr. Joseph Cheney of Shockaroo Junction, near Humula, who predeceased her by 16 years. She was born at Young, and was a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Adams, who for many years kept the Little Billabong Hotel. She was married at Humula, and leaves a family of six sons and four daughters, Joseph Daniel (Tywong), Albert (Opossum Plain, Humula), Charle (Oberne Creek), Daniel and Henry (Humula), and William (Umbango); Mrs. W. Langlaug (Holbrook), Mrs. W. Keane (West Wyalong), Mrs. R. O'Keeffe (Kiama), aud Mrs. F. Stanton (Humula). One son and two daughters predeceased her — David Robert (Humula), Mrs. W. Wallace (Batlow), and Miss Matilda Cheney (Shockaroo Junction). The deceased also leaves 64 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren, also one sister and three brothers: Mrs. W. O'Haeen (Turvey Park, Wagga), Mr. Thomas Adams (Wyalong) , and Messrs. David and James Adams (Sydney). Mrs. Cheney was of a very kind and charitable disposition. The funeral is to leave the Wagga District Hospital this morning at 11 o'clock for interment in the family ground in the Church of England portion of the Humula cemetery at 2 o'clock this afternoon.
