DAVID COLLINS DEWELL, 83, of Colorado Springs died Saturday at a local nursing home. He had been a home builder and real estate developer for 45 years.
Visitation will be from noon to 8 p.m. today at Swan-Law Funeral Home, 501 N. Cascade Ave. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery.
Mr. Dewell was born Aug. 21, 1907, in Bucklin, Kan., to Richard Collins and Nellie (Wire) Dewell. He had lived in Colorado Springs since 1946.
Mr. Dewell attended Wichita State University. He was president of Colorado Springs Country Club, a member of the Lions Club and a member of First Presbyterian Church.
Mr. Dewell was married Oct. 27, 1935, in Abilene, Kan., to Thelma Smith, who died in 1975. He was married in 1986 to Barbara Vetter of Sun Lakes, Ariz., who survives.
Mr. Dewel also is survived by three sons, David Kent Dewell of San Jose, Calif., and Richard Tim and Larry M. Dewell, both of Colorado Springs; a daughter, Connie (Dewell) Blaney of Bar Harbor, Maine; a brother, Ralph Dewell of Bucklin; 12 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
