Alfred A Wyant, 78, a lifetime resident of this community, died Wednesday, May 9 at Mercy hospital in Iowa City. Death was due to a massive blood clot. Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon at the community church with Rev Ray T Hoover officiating. Music for the service was provided by a mens quartet, with Janice Grimm at the organ.Pallbearers were Darryl Grimm, Cecil Grimm, Bill Brown, Norman Jordan, Kevin Grimm and Michael Sauter. Burial was at the community cemetery. He was a member of the community church, serving as a deacon, sunday school superintendent and teacher. He was one of the founders of the East Iowa Bible Camp. He was born in Iowa County July 10, 1895. He was married to Mae Humphrey on August 2, 1916. They celebrated their golden wedding in 1966. He was engaged in farming all his life. Surviving are his wife, four children; Mrs Orville (Helen) Horras of Williamsburg, Arland Wyant of South English, Gerald Wyant of Deep River, and Mrs Edward (Marilyn) Gorsch of Deep River; 22 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren; three sisters; Zelpha Wyant of North English, Mrs Lulu Ochs and Mrs Edith M Allen of Las Vegas, Nev. His twin brother preceded him in death.
