A resident of Lukeville, she died at 4:21 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 26, 1999, at Bedford County Medical Center, Shelbyville, Tenn. She was 78 and a native of Brusly. Visiting was at Hall's Mortuary, Port Allen, 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. Friday. Religious services at Israelite Baptist Church, Lukeville, at 11 a.m. Saturday, conducted by Elder G.C. Pierce. Interment in the church cemetery. Survived by three daughters, Elaine W. Cooley, Laverne Venable Craig and Cynthia V. Ogbeide; a son, Wilmer Jonathan Venable; seven sisters, Lillian Hunter, Ursula Allen, Lenora Crawford, Wanda Harris, Earline King, Glennie Griffin and Patricia Harvey; three brothers, William, Lionel and Kenneth Odom; 14 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and a godson, Rod Odom. Preceded in death by her parents, William and Leona Odom; first husband, Numa Watson; second husband, Wilmer Venable; two sisters, Joycelyn Odom and Irene Breaux; and a brother, Marvin Odom.
