He was married to Easther McHenry . Sam later married Jane Choate May 6, 1864 and they had 11 children.After Jane's death he married her niece Margaret Choate and they had 4 children & later divorced.
At one time he owned 264 acres and had a fine orchard but at the time of his death he was penniless and lived with a grandson. No one knows what happened to his property.
His children were Charles "Charlie" , Silas, Paul-Sarah Ann- Harrison & Epharam twins that died in infancy-Amanda Margaret-Rachel Drucilla-Sarilda Viola Vaughn Smith -Nathaniel Vaughn & Samuel Linza.
