Funeral services for Elmer Lloyd Glines, 78, of Davenport, will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Cunnick-Collins Mortuary, Davenport. Family will greet friends on Wednesday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 5 to 7 p.m. at the mortuary. Burial will be at Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery. Military Rites will be conducted by the American Legion #26.
Elmer died on Saturday, July 15, 2006, at his home in Davenport.
Elmer L. Glines was born August 30, 1927, in Davenport, the son of William and Blanche (Regan) Glines. He married Iona Mae Appleby on May 14, 1950, in Davenport. She preceded him in death in 1986. He worked as a Metal Model Maker at J.I. Case for 36 years, retiring in 1986.
Elmer served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was a member of the American Legion Post 26, Davenport, a member of St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church, the Quad Cities Computer Society, the Scott County Iowa Genealogical Society, the German American Heritage Center, the Scott County Historical Society, Plus 60, and the American Schleswig-Holstein Hertiage Society.
Survivors include his son, James Glines, and his wife, Carol, of Eldridge; daughters, Pamela Hagedorn, and her husband, Don, of Davenport, Cynthia Cook, and her husband, Rick, of Davenport, Sherilyn West, and her husband, Rick, of Rock Island; 13 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; a brother, Ray Glines, of Davenport; sisters, Colene Martin and Vivian Goff, both of Bettendorf; and special friends, Gladys Treadway, of Bettendorf, and Anna Riepe, of Davenport.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, brothers, Cleo, Roy, Glen, and Willie, and sisters, Pauline Reimers and Zella Mayes.
Memorials may be made to St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church, Davenport, or the Scott County Iowa Genealogical Society.
