Wife of James Cudworth, Jr., Mary Howland Cudworth was born between 1635 and 1636 to Henry Howland and wife Mary/Sarah in Duxbury, of the Plymouth Colony. Mary's uncle was John Howland, who arrived on the Mayflower. Mary gave birth to nine children between the years of 1667 and 1674.

Mary & James were practicing Quakers early in their marriage, as members of Pembroke Meeting, but appear to have left the Church later, per research shared by her direct ancestor, Don Blauvelt - contributing member of findagrave.com. Both died in Scituate and were buried at the Meeting House Cemetery, though their tombstones are no longer.
