Peter Adam, 80, a retired farmer and operator of a peony farm on South Missouri Avenue, died at his home, 1609 Lucinda Avenue, at 3:45 o'clock yesterday afternoon from complications following an illness of three months. He had been seriously ill for less than a week.

Mr. Adam retired from farming in 1924 after conducting a farm for many years along East Main Street. Later he operated a peony farm, the business in which he was engaged at the time of his death.

He was born in Belleville on January 8, 1860 and was a son of the late Jean Pierre and Louisa Adam, nee Klein, both natives of Alsace Lorraine. He married Theresa Albrecht at St. Peter's Cathedral on November 4, 1891. Mrs. Adam died suddenly on December 14, 1923.

Surviving are three daughters: Sister Mary Baptiste, a member of the Order of Notre Dame, stationed in Gainesville, Tex.; Mrs. Hilda Bauer, at home and Miss Estelle E. Adam, a clerk at the post office, who also resides at home.

Also surviving are two brothers and three sisters: Louis Adam, 809 South Jackson Street; Joseph B. Adam, 31 North Missouri Avenue; Mrs. Elizabeth Funk, 609 East Monroe Street; Louisa, wife of Ernest Moehrman, 109 South Virginia Avenue and Anna, wife of Leonard Bauer, 200 Portland Avenue. Three sisters and a brother preceded him in death.

Funeral services at 8:45 a.m. Saturday, June 29 from the Pete Gaerdner Funeral Home to St. Teresa's Church at 9 a.m. with the Very Rev. Dean William Hoff officiating. Burial in Walnut Hill Cemetery.
