Death: Dec. 8, 1938

Author. Born in Vienna, he was noted for his crime novels, all of which were written during the last six years of his life. They include "In Matto's Realm", "Fever", "Thumbprint", and "Morfium". He died after years of morphine and opium addiction. Germany's most prestigious award for crime fiction is called the Glauber Prize in his honor. (bio by: José L Bernabé Tronchoni)
