S. L. Wilson passed away at his home in Albion early Monday morning following a light stroke suffered while he was down town Sunday evening. He had been in poor health for some time.
Samuel Louis Wilson was born March 7, 1876, at Herman, Washington county, Nebraska. He lived in that community with his parents, Thomas R. and Mary Wilson, attending the country school. At the age of eighteen he went to Lincoln to school.
He was married December 19, 1900, to Effie A. Johnson at Blair. To this union three children were born, two sons and one daughter, Donovan S., Joseph J. and Mary Elizabeth.
Mr. and Mrs. Wilson lived on a farm near Blair for a few years after their marriage, later moving to Decatur and then to Walthill where they engaged in the dairy business. About twenty years ago they moved to Albion where he has since made his home.
Mr. Wilson came from a family of eight children and his is the first death in the family.
He leaves four brothers, James and Thomas Wilson of Casper, Wyoming and Mike and Edward Wilson of Herman, and three sisters, Mrs. Louise Pilcher of Blair, Mrs. Cora Cameron and Mrs. Minnie Skinner of Herman. Besides the brothers and sisters, Mr. Wilson leaves his widow, Mrs. Effie A. Wilson, his children, Donovan of Harlan, Iowa, Joseph of Albion and Betty of Omaha, two granddaughters and one grandson.
Mr. Wilson was not a member of any church but had a religion of his own founded in honesty and in doing all he could for those who needed help. He was honored and respected by his acquaintances and his friends, and friends of the family unit in genuine sympathy.
Funeral services were held from the Congregational church Wednesday afternoon in charge of Rev. James A. McKeeman, pastor. Interment was in Rose Hill cemetery.
Relatives from away who attended the funeral were; Mr. and Mrs. O. Mathews, Mrs. Louise Pilcher, and Ray Johnson of Blair; Ed Wilson, Mrs. Minnie Skinner and family, Mrs. Jim Broderson, and Mrs. Whit Cameron of Herman; Mrs. R. Leonard of Council Bluffs; Mr. and Mrs. Dan Wilson and son Sammy Lee of Harlan, Iowa; and Miss Betty Wilson of Omaha. Friends attending from out of town were Miss Wylene Hall, Mrs. L. S.
