W. Bruce Willocks, 79, born May 23, 1936, of Maryville, quietly slipped from this life on Friday, July 17, 2015. A graduate of Lanier High School, Bruce joined the United States Army after graduation. He served his country with honor and distinction in Special Forces and as a Green Beret with several foreign tours of duty, including Korea and Vietnam. An employee of Tennessee Farmers Cooperative, Bruce was an avid fisherman spending many hours on the water at Citico and Calderwood. He was an ardent supporter of all the law enforcement agencies, especially the Tennessee State Troopers. He is preceded in death by his beloved son, Stanley Dale Felty; sister, Betty Ann Willocks Goddard; parents, Otis and Lola Denton Willocks; grandparents, William H. and Ollie Van Howard Willocks, and John and Lillie Belle Butler Denton; stepson, Rick Felty; and great-niece, Riley Elizabeth Willocks. Bruce is survived by his devoted wife of 34 years, JoAnn Willocks; brother, Don Willocks and wife Mary of Dandridge, Tenn.; brother-in-law, Roy Goddard; stepdaughter, Lissa Felty Goodman and husband, Randy; grandchildren, Dustin Hawkins and family, Allison Harris, Dion, Jolynn and Blaine Felty; as well as by his special "Little Bit", Iris Hicks, age 3. He also leaves behind nieces, Teresa Goddard, Ramona Joy Best and husband, Stanley; nephews, Roger Goddard, Scott Willocks and wife, Heidi; great-niece, Casey Best McCord and husband, Ryan; great-nephews, Ryan Best and Parker Willocks, as well as a host of family and friends. A celebration of life will be Saturday, August 1, in the Fellowship Hall at Friendship Baptist Church, 3310 Old Niles Ferry Road, Maryville. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial gifts be made to Area 15 Special Olympics, 316 S. Everett High Road, Maryville, TN 37804, the Tennessee Rehabilitation Center, 1627 Percheron Street, Maryville, TN 37801, or the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758517, Topeka, KS 66675.
