Born in Massachusetts, 1902, went with parents back to St.John's, Newfoundland where they had been born and where his next two younger siblings were born (1904, 1905). His family then resettled to Rumford before August 1907. His parents had another six children in Rumford before his father died suddenly in March 1916 leaving him at age 13 the great responsibility of helping his mother provide for and raise his 8 younger siblings. "Jack" lived out his life in Rumford and Mexico. After his first wife died, he married a second time and in total fathered seven children who lived to adulthood. He was an award-winning marksman, and greatly enjoyed hunting and fishing.
