Dec. 22, 1898

Word reached town this morning that Mrs. Jacob, daughter of Henry Kreuger, dropped dead Tuesday evening. No particulars learned.

Dec. 29, 1898

On Tuesday afternoon Mrs. Herman Jacob died very suddenly at her home about seven miles east of Arlington. The cause of her death was from rupturing of a blood vessel. The funeral was preach at the Lutheran church, Friday.

Mrs. Jacob, who died so suddenly last Wednesday, was buried at the Brown Creek church last Friday. It was a sad, sad funeral and attended by a large crowd.

Note: The Brown Creek church cemetery is now known as God's Acre or St. Paul's at Arlington.

* Please note that name spellings for the marriage record are consistent with the Washington County record, but vary from the obituary. I used the spelling for the marriage entry as the maiden name spelling on Paulina's memorial as this was consistent with that of her parent's surname spelling on the Find A Grave record.

** Paulina's birth and death dates were obtained from the cemetery record.

Birth Family

Paulina's birth family was residing in Fontanelle, Washington, Nebraska from at least 1880 until at least 1910.

The following person's are Paulina's birth family members and details:

Father, Henry Kruger, (1839-1918). Immigrated ca 1859 per 1910 census.

Mother, Hannah Kruger, (1848-1885)

Hanna passed away in 1885, and Henry remarried to Mary around 1886.

Stepmother, Mary Kruger

Children of Hannah and Henry; siblings of Pauline:

REQ, Brother, William aka Willie Kruger, b April 16 1873 in Nebraska. Md Ella Hagle on Octob1898 in Washington County, Nebraska.

Self, Paulina aka Pauline / Paulena Kruger, b ca 1874-75 in Nebraska

NL, Sister, Elizebeth aka Lizzie Kruger, b ca 1875-76 in Nebraska

REQ Brother, Frank (J Frank / John Frank) Kruger, b ca 1876-78 in Nebraska, Oct 1877 per 1900 census. Md Emma Flake on June 6, in Washington County, Nebraska.

NL Sister, Mary Krugar, b ca 1879-80 in Nebraska, Sep 1880 per 1900 census.

NL Sister, Sophia Kruger, b ca 1883-84 in Nebraska, Jan 1884 per 1900 census. The 1885 Nebraska census indicates she was born around 1878. She was not listed in the 1880 census.

I believe that, instead of age 7, she was actually age 1 at the time of the 1885 census and the entry was transcribed incorrectly. If this is the case, Sophia would have been born around 1883-1884. This is confirmed in the 1900 US census which also indicates that Sophia was born around 1883-1884.

Children of Mary and Henry; half-siblings of Pauline:

Cora Kruger, b ca 1888-89 in Nebraska, Nov 1889 per 1900 census.

Charlotte L. Kruger, b ca 1891-92 in Nebraska, Jun 1892 per 1900 census.
