Eleanor A. Graham 1910-2002 WEST BRANCH, NB - The death of Eleanor A. Graham (Nellie) occurred on Tuesday, July 2, 2002 at The Moncton Hospital following a brief illness.

Nellie was born in Ford Bank, Kent County in 1910, the daughter of the late Susannah (Atkinson) Morton and Edgar Morton. Nellie attended Normal School and taught for over 33 years, many of them in rural one-room schools throughout southeastern, NB. Nellie has had a life-long interest in education; teaching in Ford Bank, Turtle Creek, McKees Mills, West Branch, Bella Phillip. In 1962, Mrs. Graham obtained her B.A. and two years later returned to Mount Allison for her B.Ed. She was principal at The Rexton Senior High School and later at the Richibucto Junior High School where the Eleanor W. Graham School now bears her name. She enjoyed music and was an avid reader and expert quilter.

Following the death of her first husband, Nellie ran the family farm and raised turkeys. Nellie served as County Councillor, School Board Trustee and held offices in many other community organizations. Following her retirement from teaching, Mrs. Graham researched and published two books on genealogy and history of her family and of the community of West Branch. Nellie was a member of Zion Presbyterian Church, West Branch, where she served as organist for both the congregation and the Sunday School.

She was predeceased by her husbands, Townsend Wilson 1954, and Harrison Graham 1983. She is survived by one daughter, Carol (Lee) MacDonald, Margaree Valley; two sons, Trueman (Betty) Wilson, Salisbury and Fred (Winnie) Wilson, West Branch; three stepsons, Dr. Michael Graham, Main River, William Graham, Vancouver, Alan (Connie) Graham, Rexton; step-daughter in-law Barbara Graham, Woodstock, Ontario. Nellie's grandchildren include, Betty Lou Bennett, Inverness, Susan MacDonald, Halifax, John MacDonald, Sydney, Gordon MacDonald, Charlottetown, Colin MacDonald, Margaree Valley and David MacDonald, Port Hawkesbury. Also Shane Wilson, Salisbury, Shelley Wilson, Yarmouth and Stacy Wilson, Duluth, USA. Also Townsend Wilson, Halifax, Jean Hudson, Rexton and Grant and Douglas Wilson, West Branch, April Jost, Cambridge Narrows, Mark, Nora, Bruce and Sally Wilson, West Branch. Also Shawn Graham, Rexton, Andrew Graham, Main River, Patricia Graham, Moncton, Peter Graham, Ottawa and Ashley Graham, Rexton. Also David Graham, Barrie, Catherine and Paul Graham, Woodstock, Ontario. Nellie had 38 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews and their families. Also among the mourners are two sisters-in-law, Bertha Morton and Georgina Morton and one brother-in-law, Charles Morton.

Besides her husbands, Nellie was predeceased by a daughter Betty in 1956 and a step daughter-in-law, Sharon Graham in 1971; four sisters, Flossie and Allie Morton, Bessie Lennox and Maude Morton; three brothers, Ronald, Donald and John Morton.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Thompson's Funeral Home, Richibucto where the family will be receiving friends and neighbours on Wednesday evening from 7 to 9 and Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9pm. The funeral service will be held on Friday, July 5, 2002 at 2:30pm at Zion Presbyterian Church, West Branch with Rev. Dr. John Allison conducting the service. Memorial donations may be given to the Zion Presbyterian Church Memorial Fund or to the charity of the donor's choice.
