Emily was born January 19, 1946 in Quapaw, OK. to James Harvey and Ruby (DeWeese) Lawhead. She had lived in Ottawa county area all her life and was a member of the First Freewill Baptist Church in Miami, OK. She had been a courier for the Tulsa World and Tulsa Tribune for many years and had worked at area nursing homes as a Nail – Tech. Emily was a member of the Cherokee Nation and loved doing Native American beadwork and working with her flowers.
She was preceded in death by her husband James Ronald Busby, her parents and her brother Jerry Lawhead.
Survivors include a son James Ronald Busby, II of Frederick, OK, 3 daughters Kristina Rhodes and husband Gary of Wyandotte, OK, Tamera Beattie and husband Colin of Quapaw, OK and Cherry Rogers and husband Roudy of Miami, OK, a brother James Lawhead of Baxter Springs, KS and 5 sisters Janis Turner of Monkey Island, OK, Mary Purscelley of Quapaw, OK, Dorothy Bennett of Colcord, OK, Faye Marlene Boyd of Lawton, OK and Deborah Sargent of Joplin, MO, 8 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be Wednesday , July 8, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. at the Paul Thomas Funeral Home Chapel in Miami, OK. Rev. Gary Rhodes and Rev. Mark Goode will officiate. Interment will be in G.A.R. Cemetery in Miami, OK with Native American rites conducted by Larry King. Pallbearers will be Jerry Lawhead , Tim Purscelley, Larry Lawhead, Michael Lawhead, James Roy Lawhead and Joe Lawhead. Honorary Pallbearers will be Dustin Randall and Shane Randall. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Paul Thomas Funeral Chapel in Miami, OK.
