Irene was my sister ,the second child of seven of us kids ,born toFlorence Jean Simpson Fleuryand Leonard Joseph Fleury, in Detroit Michigan. When she was a child she had Rhumatic Fever and a heart murmur I was told by our mom Florence.
She went to school at Herman Klix Elementary in Mount Clemens and Lake Shore School in Saint Clair Shores Michigan.
Irene's husband is Donald L. Young. She met Donald while working at Elias Brothers Big Boys in Saint Clair Shores Michigan.
They married and had one child Susan Nadine. Her pride and joy grandchildren were Donovan and Deidra.
Irene and Donald lived in Saint Clair Shores for 12 years after their daughter Susan was born , and then they moved to Wyoming, Michigan.
Irene had health problems in her life, She broke her ankle when she missed the last four steps coming down the stairs, and while in the hospital she was told she should have heart surgery, and she did after her ankle healed. She was in the hospital for a time and when she was home you could hear when the valve opened and shut, it sounded like a clock ticking. She also had struggled with cancer and non-Hodgkins lymphoma in her right breast She had developed diabetes the last few years and suffered from watermelon stomach the last year as well as complicated cataract surgery. She had overcame so many health obstacles. She fought for her health even though sometimes she was tired of all the poking, prodding and medicines.
Irene loved to go to Bingo. She loved to take trips to Indiana where her husband Donalds people were from, and drive up north to our mom and dads place, and our brother Daves and sister Diana who also lived near our parents in Au Gres Michigan. They would sometimes visit our oldest sis Shirley too in Mount Clemens. Irene loved to go camping in her early years in her marriage to Don.
