Benjamin Eugene (Benny) Swango, 86, passed away Sunday evening, June 28, 2015 at his home in Grove, Okla. after a long illness.

Benny was born Aug. 19, 1928 in Welch, Okla. to Eugene Leland Swango and Bess Ellen (Yadon) Swango. He was a graduate of the Welch High School Class of 1947. He served his country in the United States Army with the 45th Infantry Division, 179th Regiment, Company G. He retired from B.F. Goodrich after 38 years of service. Benny was also a 65 year member of the Elk City, Kan. Masonic Lodge #132. He was a member of the Saint Andrews Episcopal Church in Grove.

After retirement, Benny purchased a motor home and he and Frankie traveled. They enjoyed traveling across the United States and spending the summers in Colorado. He and Frankie later settled on Grand Lake in Grove, Okla. where they enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Benny was an accomplished fly fisherman and loved to fish with his son and grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Greg Swango; one sister, Louise Stevens; and one nephew, Donnie Edwards.

He is survived by his wife and best friend of 37 years, Frankie; his children and their spouses, Randy and Kim Swango of Miami, Okla., Sheila and Ron Price of LaCygne, Kan., Kirby Stanislaus and Jamie Ellsworth of Chanute, Kan., Donna and Roger Brummel of Garnett, Kan., Larry and Julie Stanislaus of Chanute, Kan., and Lance and Judy Stanislaus of Havana, Kan.; 14 grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; one sister, Virginia Edwards of Raymore, Mo.; and a host of friends.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, July 6, 2015 at the Saint Andrews Episcopal Church in Grove. Reverend Phil Lawrence will officiate. A graveside service will follow at 2 p.m. at the Williams Timberhill Cemetery east of Welch, Okla. where Masonic Rites will also be held.

The family request that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Masonic Lodge, Carson Lodge #132, P.O. Box 231, Elk City, Kan. 67344.

Services have been entrusted to the Thomas Funeral Home of Welch, Okla.
