Otis Norton Taylor, son of William E. and Mary M. Taylor, was born August 7, 1889 near Garnet, Kansas. He departed this life December 25, 1972 at the Kit Carson County Memorial Hospital following a short illness at the age of 83

Otis graduated from the Gas City, Kansas High School in 1910 and shortly thereafter moved with his parents to Wallace County, Kansas. He was a veteran of World War I, serving in the U.S. Infantry from April 26, 1918 to June 2, 1919.

He was united in marriage to Pearl A. Sivey August 24, 1919 at Kanorado.

Otis has been an active faithful member of the American Legion, having recently completed 50 years of consecutive membership.

Surviving are his wife, Pearl: 3 daughters, Rose Patterson of Burlington, Wilma Schmidt of Florence and Joyce Smith of Sacramento, California, 2 sons, Lee of Burlington and Mavor of Longmont. Also a sister, Fannie Grover of Miami, Oklahoma, and a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren, relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by one sister, Ada and an infant son.

Services were held at the Hendricks Chapel in Burlington Thursday, December 28, at 1:30 p.m., with the Rev. Willis Wisehart officiating.
Musical numbers were provided by Bob and Nelda Henricks, accompanied by the organ by Sandee Strobel.
Casket bearers were Stanley Sowards, Don Thompson, Harold Boland, Fred Hilt Hr., Raymond Lucke and Melvin Revert.

Honorary casket bearers were Harley Conger, Oscar Olson, Harold Livengood, Henry Hoskin, George Schutte, Virgil Brown and Arthur Lowe.

Interment was at the Kanorado Cemetery



Marriage ceremony was preformed by his Uncle Samuel E. Taylor, called him Uncle Sammy, of Denver, Colorado. They were married at the home of her parents south of Kanorado, Kansas. Otis was a farmer north of Wesken, Kansas. He was approved on February 20, 1931 as the post master of Kanorado, Kansas.

He had grey eyes and red hair.
