OSCEOLA MILLS Melvin A. Davis, 64, of Ashland, Osceola Mills R.D., was dead on arrival at the Philipsburg State General Hospital, Thursday, Oct. 25, at 10p.m.
Born in Ashland, Sept. 6, 1915, he was the son of Joseph and Lucinda (Winters) Davis.
He was the former owner of Davis' Trucking Co. He was married to the former Anna Shively, who died May 17,1978.
He is survived by his stepmother, Susanna Davis, and these children: Richard M. Finley, Ohio; Merrell E., and Gerald A., both of Ashland; and Mrs. Allen (Shirley) Love, Staten Island, N.Y. He is also survived by a number of grandchildren and these sisters and half brothers: Mrs. Nellie McCelland, Clinton, Md.; Mrs. Virgie Angelillo, Plantsville, Conn.; Mrs. Thelma Williams, Wilkes-Barre; Howard Davis, State Line, and Carmen Davis, Brisbin.
He was a member of the Osceola Mills Lodge 515 F&AM; Altoona Consistory; Jaffa Shrine, Altoona; Decatur Grange; and the York Rite Masons.
He served on the board of directors at the Harbor Inn.
Services will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. from the Heath Funeral Home in Osceola Mills, with the Rev. Roy A. Kelly officiating. Interment will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery, Curwensville.
The Decatur Grange will hold memorial service Saturday at 7 p.m. a Masonic Memorial service will be held Saturday at p.m. at the funeral home. Friends may call at t funeral home Saturday afternoon and evening
