Earl R. Sands, born September 10, 1922, passed away peacefully June 30, 2015 at UT Hospital.

He was a World War II veteran of the US Army. Earl was a lifelong member of Meadow Methodist Church, a member of the Meadow Quartet Singers, and a member of the 25 year club of Alcoa Aluminum Company. He made many trips to Redbird in Kentucky delivering toys and clothes for the needy. Earl was a proud Papaw to many and Dad to his family. He was one of the greatest men you ever knew.

Preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Sands; son, Danny E. Sands; granddaughter, Angel S. Sands; parents, William J. Sands and Gertrude Sands; brothers, Harold, Odis, Fred, and Gerald Sands; sisters, Margie, Clara Anne, Mildred, Verla Gean, and Norma.

Survived by: son and daughter-in-law, Larry and JoAnn Sands; daughter-in-law, JoAnne Duncan Sands; grandchildren, Stephanie Ledbetter, April and David Hutsell, Jessica and David Clifford, Larry G. Sands Jr., Trina Chesser, Trevor Sands; great-grandchildren, Chelsie and Cory Ledbetter, Taya and Logan Cable, Alyssa Hutsell, Landon and Lucas Clifford, Brittany Sands Dagley, Austin, Jacob, and Olivia Sands; and several step-grandchildren.

Funeral service will be held 7:00 PM Thursday, July 2, 2015 at Miller Funeral Home, Magnolia Chapel, Rev. Jimmie Guider officiating. Interment service will be held at 2:00 PM Friday at Cloyds Creek Presbyterian Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM Thursday at Miller Funeral Home, Maryville.
