He retired from the University of Tennessee after working 36 years in the Police Force and Key Shop. He was known to many as Captain Gibson, with a strong work ethic and a great sense of humor. He enjoyed spending time with family, fishing, farming and attending UT sports events. He was a member of Ellejoy Baptist Church.
Mr. Gibson was preceded in death by his parents George and Lucy Gibson, and his brother James Gibson.
The family will receive friends 5-7 PM Tuesday with funeral service to follow at 7 PM in Atchley's Seymour Chapel.
Interment 11 AM Wednesday in Ellejoy Baptist Church cemetery.
