Mr. Charles Kennedy, 83, of Waynesboro, PA, and formerly of Myersville, MD passed away Wednesday, June 24, 2015, at Chambersburg Memorial Hospital in Pennsylvania surrounded by his family.

Born in St. Ignatius, Montana, he was the son of the late William J. Kennedy, Sr. and Mary Matt Kennedy.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving from 1950 to 1974 in the Adjutant General Corps, Medical Corps, and last with the Signal Corps in numerous postings including Okinawa, Germany, Korea, and Vietnam and his numerous military decorations include the Bronze Star. He retired with the rank of sergeant first class in 1974 from Fort Detrick Maryland.

After retirement he attended Hood College, completing his Bachelor's degree and earning a Master's degree, both in education. He taught in Frederick County, MD, Brigham City, Utah, and Logan, West Virginia, finishing his education career with the Harpers Ferry Job Corps in 1990.

Charles was a member of the Blackfeet Indian tribe. He was a Melvin Jones Fellow of the Lions Club. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, the Tall Cedars of Lebanon, the Knights Templar, and the York and Scottish Rites.

He is survived by his wife of 11 years, Frances Fitz-Kennedy, three sons and their wives and four grandchildren. He is also survived by a stepdaughter and stepson and their spouses and two step grandchildren and one step great grandchild. He is also survived by his brother, Bill, his wife, one nephew, and three nieces.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Wilma, and his first wife of 46 years, Mildred Schultz Kennedy.

A visitation will be held Sunday, 28 June, 2015, from 5-8 PM at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick, Maryland with a Masonic ceremony at 7 PM.

Funeral services will be held Monday, 29 June, 2015 at 11 AM at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 400 Main Street, Myersville, MD with graveside service immediately following in the cemetery behind the church.

In lieu of flowers, donation may be made to St. Paul's.
