Howard M. Keel, 80, a resident of Bettendorf, Iowa died Sunday, January 2, 2005 at Trinity at Terrace Park Hospital, Bettendorf.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. Thursday, January 6, 2005 at the McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Chapel, Bettendorf. Burial will be in Oakdale Memorial Gardens, Davenport. Visitation will be from 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the family.
He was born September 12, 1924 in Davenport, Iowa, the son of Geddes & Maude (Ensley) Keel. On August 9, 1941, he was united in marriage to Josephine Krucker in Davenport.
Howard worked at Williams & White as a welder and in later years, as a general contractor, retiring in 1984 after 40 years of service.
He was an avid CB radio operator and his handle was “The Dutchman.” He also enjoyed going to the boat and having fun with his faithful dog, Josie.
Those left to honor his memory include his loving wife, Josephine; his children & their spouses, Howard G. Keel & his wife, Vickie of LeClaire, Iowa, Josephine Sparbel & her husband, Robert of Muscatine, Iowa, Sharon Schlitter & her husband, David of Davenport, Jerry Keel & his wife, Norma of Bettendorf and Robert Keel of Tampa, Florida; thirteen grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren; his sisters, Leona of LeClaire and Joyce of Davenport; and his brother, Richard in California.
Howard was preceded in death by one sister and six brothers.
