Marla Jean Weeks Miller, 57, was granted her angel wings and new set of lungs June 21, 2015, at the Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center in Idaho Falls. Her final days were spent surrounded by family and friends that Marla had touched throughout her remarkable life.

Marla was born July 8, 1957, in Logan, Utah, to Larry Merrill Weeks and Geraldine Ann Brown Weeks, where she joined her two older siblings, Debbie and Roland. After her father graduated college with a degree in forestry, they began their journey as a family living in several beautiful parts of the northwest. Their first stop was New Meadows. Then it was on to McCall. Here they enjoyed swimming in the lake and playing in the forest behind their house.

The family moved to southern Utah, to the small town of Loa. As a family, they all enjoyed hiking, camping and boating adventures in the red rock area.

Two more sisters, Cheryl and Beccie, and a brother, John, joined the family. They shared their parents' love of the outdoors.

When the family returned to Fairfield to be closer to family, Marla loved living near the Sawtooth Mountains where she was able to hike, fish and ski. She graduated from Camas County High school in 1975. She attended college at the University of Idaho.

Marla moved to Idaho Falls, where she met her future husband, Brad Miller. They were married in Las Vegas, where they lived. Marla was thrilled to become a mom when they welcomed Jeramy Paul to the family and, a few years later, she was doubly happy when Christopher Micheal joined their family. Marla worked at a meat company in Las Vegas and made some lifelong friends. Later, she and Brad divorced and she brought the boys back to live near family in Idaho and Washington.

Her boys were the light of her life. Marla loved to fish, she taught her sons to fish and they were always on a lookout for the "best" fishing hole. She took them fishing and camping every chance she could.

Marla has six grandchildren and she was the best grandma to them. They loved her and she loved them!

Marla made friends with everyone she met. They loved her witty personality and humor. She never met a person that didn't leave as a friend, even her doctors and nurses. Marla had a dear friend, Charlie Wright, who shared her love of going for rides and visiting friends.

Marla worked at Young's Heating and Air at the time of her death. They were an extension of her family. She enjoyed working there and loved them very much.

Marla is survived by her two sons, Jeramy (Heather) Miller, of Nampa, and Christopher, of Idaho Falls; a daughter, Amanda Sermon, of Idaho Falls; grandchildren, Austin and Makayla Miller, of Twin Falls, Brady and Alexis Miller, of Nampa, Javin Ricker, of Idaho Falls; stepmother, Nancy Weeks, of Rexburg; sisters, Debbie Despot (Steve), of Boise, Cheryl Weeks, of Fort Collins, Colo., Beccie Beck, of Shelton, Wash.; brothers; Roland Weeks, of Placerville, Calif., John Weeks (Michelle), of Boise, and Fred Walton (Shelley), of Great Falls, Mont.; 15 nieces and nephews; grandmother, Nellie Borden, of Idaho Falls; many aunts and uncles, including her "bestie aunt," Emma Hulse, of Idaho Falls.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Larry Weeks and Geraldine Brown Weeks; and grandson, Hayden Miller.

Marla requested that her body be donated to medical science to do research on the disease she suffered from, Alpha One Antitrypsin Deficiency, so when the process is complete and her ashes are returned, there will be a Celebration of Life at the Ririe-Shelton Cemetery in Ririe. This should be in approximately six to eight weeks.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to Marla Miller Memorial Fund, 3637 Grove Lane, Idaho Falls, Idaho 83404.
