ELIZABETH JANE CARVER
"Elizabeth Jane (Griffith) Carver passed away Monday, age 76 years, 8 months and 2 days. Buried at Gravel Ford beside her husband who died December 28, 1892. She was born May 12, 1843 near Cleveland, Ohio. From there she moved to Indiana where she met Henry Carver and soon after the Civil War they were married. From Indiana they moved to Wilson County, Kansas and from there to Baker, Oregon in 1882, came to Coos Co. in the fall of 1888, locating near Dora. 8 children were born to them - 2 died in infancy and 1 son drowned in California when he was 15 years of age. The surviving children are: W.M. Carver of Bliss, Ida; Annie E. Huff of Dinsmore, Calif.; C.E. Carver and A.L. Carver of this city and J.A. Carver, who left a few days ago for Idaho. 22 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren besides 2 brothers and a sister. One of the older grandchildren is Henry Carver (Rev. John Henry Carver), an ex-serviceman and resides in Myrtle Point."
