A native of Weymouth, Massachusetts, he wrote such memorable songs as, "Singin' In The Bathtub", "I'd Like To Be A Gypsy", "When A Lady Meets A Gentleman Down South", "Is There Anything Wrong In That", "Deep In The Blue", "It's In The Stars", "H'lo, Baby", "Here It Is Monday", "My Impression Of You", "Ten O'Clock Town", and "I've Still Got A Dollar." Several of his songs have also appeared in Hollywood films and in Broadway plays, most notably, "Earl Carroll's Vanities" (1931). A member of ASCAP, he collaborated with other musicians including, Ned Washington, Herbert Magidson, Maurice Sigler, Nat Lief, Max Lief, and Arthur Swanstrom. A graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point, New York, he served as a Major in the United States Army, during World War II. He was also the Academy's personal organist for several years. He died in New York, New York, at the age of 52. (bio by: K)
