Gladys R. Laux, age 93 of Carlyle, passed away at Carlyle Healthcare Center on Sunday, June 14th, 2015. Gladys was a member of Hopewell United Methodist Church, and the Clinton County Home Extension. She was a farm wife and also volunteered at nursing homes in Greenville. She enjoyed flowers and gardening, and loved to crochet and read.

A funeral service will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Tuesday, June 16, 2015, at Zieren Funeral Home in Carlyle with Rev. Tom Hoffman, officiating. Interment will follow at McKendree Chapel Cemetery near Keyesport. Visitation will be held at Zieren Funeral Home on Monday, June 15, from 5:00 - 8:00 P.M. and on Tuesday morning from 8:00 - 10:00 A.M. Expressions of sympathy in memory of Mrs. Laux are suggested to Carlyle Healthcare Center Activities Department or to the charity of the donor's choice, and will be received at Zieren Funeral Home. In addition to her husband Wilson, Mrs. Laux is also survived by a son - Scottie Laux and wife Mary of Carlyle; 2 grandsons - Ryan and Tyler Laux; and a sister-in-law - Dorothy Barnes.

Mrs. Laux was born in rural Patoka on October 8, 1921, a daughter of Luther and Rachel (Shepard) Barnes. She married Wilson Laux on October 21, 1944, and he survives in Carlyle. She was preceded in death by her parents; 3 brothers – Loren Barnes and wife Bessie, Wayne Barnes and wife Lela, and Ralph Barnes; and 3 sisters – Jenny Barnes, Opal Brown and husband Frank, and Louise Hampsten and husband Virgil.
