Frankie Frisch Futch went to be with his Lord and Savior on June 13, 2015. Frankie was born August 2, 1933 in Spearsville, Louisiana to Joe R. Futch and Marie Smith Futch. He was the first of nine children and he took his role as the eldest child and protector of his siblings very seriously. He graduated from Spearsville High School in 1951. He would then go to Louisiana Tech University where he would achieve a Bachelor's and Master's degree, both in Education.

He was passionate about a variety of sports and enjoyed any competitive atmosphere. During his 52 years as an educator, he enjoyed refereeing and umpiring sporting events. Everyone knew Coach Futch by his very unique and boisterous way of calling balls and strikes. Frankie and his brother Terry were recognized in 2001 by Louisiana Tech University for their 37 years of dedicated services to Louisiana Tech men's basketball. Not only did he relish in everything sports related, but he was also an avid quail hunter and fisherman. He and his brothers spent many hours together in and around the woods and ponds of Union Parish.

His first teaching position was at Wisner High School in 1955. While teaching at Wisner, he also coached the high school football team. He began teaching at Spearsville High School in 1956. He taught English and speech, and coached the baseball and basketball teams. He won two state championships in baseball while at Spearsville. He retired from the Louisiana education system in July of 1987 as the Federal Program Director for Union Parish Schools. Ever eager to influence young minds, he immediately began his education career in Arkansas. He was named the principal of Huttig Elementary School in August of 1987 and would remain there for the next five years. A new and exciting opportunity arose in 1992 for Mr. Futch and his family as he would accept the position as the elementary school principal of Union School in El Dorado, Arkansas. His charismatic charm and professional character helped create a strong bond with not only faculty and students, but also the community. The 13 years he spent at Union High School would go on to be remembered as the happiest and most memorable years of his career. Frankie served as an educator in Arkansas for 18 years, and then returned to his Louisiana roots as principal of Spearsville High School in 2005. He was principal there for two years and then he would go on to begin a short lived retirement. Frankie, at the age of 77, still knew he wanted to make a difference for the students and teachers in Union Parish. He would begin his school board member career in 2011 and served until his death in 2015.

Frankie was quite the educator and outdoorsman, but what he lived for and loved the most was his family. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 56 years, Carolyn Gardner Futch of Spearsville, Louisiana. They have two daughters, Carla Futch Deason and husband Russell, and Shari Futch Pilgreen and husband Gary, all of Spearsville, Louisiana. He has three grandchildren: Lynsay Deason Lee and husband Brandon, Shelby Deason and Dillon Pilgreen and wife Nikki. He was affectionately called "G-Daddy" by his grandchildren, but the name soon stuck with him as he was called "G-Daddy" by his students, colleagues, and anyone else who loved him like family. His two great grandchildren, Landon and Felyx, were the light of his life.

He is also survived by two sisters and four brothers: Kay Futch Scarborough of Arlington, Texas and Rosa Futch Bass of Powder Springs, Georgia; Fred Futch and wife Nancy of Farmerville, Louisiana; Ike Futch and wife Brenda of West Monroe, Louisiana; Curtis Futch and wife Louise of Calhoun, Louisiana; and Joe Futch and wife Sue of Spearsville, Louisiana. He is survived by a sister-in-law, Jean Futch of Farmerville, Louisiana; and a brother-in-law, Gary Puckett of Calhoun, Louisiana, along with a host of nieces and nephews.

Frankie was an active member of First Baptist Church in Spearsville, Louisiana where he taught Sunday School for over 40 years. Visitation for Frankie F. Futch will be held at First Baptist Church in Spearsville on Wednesday, June 17, from 5:00PM – 8:00PM. The funeral will also be at First Baptist Church on Thursday, June 18, at 10:00AM with Rev.
