Son of Francis Everett Amsberry of Mason County, West Virginia and Lucy Caroline Beard of Lynchburg, Bedford County, Virginia.
Husband of Rose Ella Comer of Lucas, Lucas County, Iowa; married in 1886 in Algernon, Custer County, Nebraska.
"Floyd Murton Amsberry was born in Mason County, West Virginia, March 5, 1854 and died September 8, 1914 at Parsons, Kansas, being 60 years, 6 months and 4 days old. He came to Nebraska in 1879 and homesteaded 3 miles east of Mason City. He was married in 1886 to Miss Rose Comer and eleven children; 5 boys and 6 girls, were born to them. His wife died 5 years ago. Her father died 17 years ago and his mother, Lucy C., still survives at the age of 88 years.
Deceased was the fourth of a family of twelve children; five boys and seven girls, all of whom survive him. The brothers are John A, William, and F.A. of Mason City and J.M., editor of Miller Sun; Mesdames, W.G. Frazey and L.E. Coleman of Ansley, Charles Amsberry of Berwyn, Nick Peterson, J.N. Greenlee and C.C. Fisher and Miss Martha Amsberry of Mason City are the sisters.
Deceased was a victim of a paralytic stroke two years ago at Benkelman, Nebraska and was a living invalid at the hospital when a sudden stroke of apoplexy took him away.
The funeral was conducted by Elder Patterson at the Baptist Church in Mason City on Saturday the 12th and the remains were laid to rest in the Amsberry Cemetery 3 miles west of Mason City to await the resurrection.
The deceased's sons, Alfred of Benkelman, Nebraska. Lewis and Earl of Bridgeport, William and Eldon of Mason City attended the funeral, those from abroad returning home Sunday."
