Hortense Cain was born in Ray Co., Missouri, the daughter of Robert Lee Lillard and Zillah D. Cruse. Hortense was united in marriage to John Bryan Cain on the 27th of December, 1922, in Richmond, Ray County, MO. To this union was born one son Robert L. Cain. Her mother Zillah died at the age of 19 years when Hortense was only two years of age. Zillah is buried in the South Point Cemetery, Orrick, Ray Co., MO. Hortense died at the Research Hospital, Kansas City, Kaw Twp., Jackson Co., MO., at the age of 26 years, 2 months and 25 days. The cause of death being complications due to a miscarriage.
