Born in Dallas City, Ill., a daughter of the late William and Eunice (Richart) Kyle, she lived in East Providence since February, having lived in Riverside from 1945 to 1989.
Mrs. Flanders had also been a night nurse at Butler Hospital.
She was a member of the Dallas City First Christian Church, the Royal Neighbors of America, and the AARP. She was a founding member, with her late husband, of the Parent's Association of the Retarded Persons Association of Rhode Island, which began at Ladd School.
Mrs. Flanders was a graduate of the Butler Hospital School for Practical Nurses, and was a member of the first class of the Rhode Island School of Practical Nursing, graduating in 1953. She was also a graduate of White's Business College, Fort Madison, Iowa.
She leaves two daughters, Kay E. Perkins of West Greenwich and Helen F. Anderton of West Yarmouth, Mass.; four grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren. She was the mother of the late Orren Kyle Flanders.
The funeral and burial will be private.
