Born in Starr, SC on October 19, 1917, she was the daughter of the late William Jessie and Bessie Broadwell Ethridge. She will always be remembered as a kind, loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great-great grandmother, aunt and friend. Her work ethic was admired by all who knew her. She worked in the sewing industry for over 65 years and continued to do sewing for others and herself until her death. Her lifelong faith journey saw her always serving God and her church. She was a devoted member of Concord Baptist Church in Anderson and attended faithfully until her death.
Survivors include her son, Wayne Coats and his wife, Jennifer of Anderson; step-daughters, Brenda Jackson of Mobile, Alabama and Rita Ferguson of Starr; twelve grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; and six great-great grandchildren.
In addition to her two husbands and parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Judy Coats Cartee, two brothers and four sisters.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Sullivan-King Mortuary Chapel conducted by Dr. Don Cox and Rev. Bill Parnell. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 2 until 3 p.m. Wednesday at the mortuary.
