It is not known who his mother was. He moved with his family to Connellsville, Pennsylvania. On January 28, 1800 he was a member of the "Polemic Society", a debating club in Connellsville. He married Mary Magdalena Wirth (Werts, Wartz) April 24, 1806 in Connellsville, Pennsylvania., daughter of Christian Wirth and Maria Barbara Nelig. She was born near Benders Reformed Church in Manallen Township, York County, Pennsylvania.
Shortly after their marriage they moved to Cincinnati, Ohio, probably with Mary's brother Jacob and her sister-law Catherine in 1807. On December 26, 1809 Baltzer bought 160 acres of land in Preble County, Ohio.
On April 28, 1812 he was drafted as a private in Captain Nisbet's company, 3rd Regiment, 5th Brigade, 1st Division of the Ohio Militia for service in the War of 1812.
He was the Senior Deacon of the Bolivar Lodge No. 82 which first met in Eaton, Ohio August 19, 1826.

Stone has deteriorated and is completely gone. Buried next to his son David Baltzer Snyder.
