Freddie Nell Beckham Bills, 90, of Amarillo died Tuesday, May 26, 2015.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in First Baptist Church Chapel in Amarillo with Dr. Howard Batson officiating. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Boulevard.

Freddie Nell was born Oct. 3, 1924, in Pampa to Herman T. and Nellie Jane Cox Beckham. After graduation from Pampa High School, she married Billy Jr. Bills and later moved to San Diego, Calif., where they raised their family. They were married for 64 years and had four children, Nell, Janice, Michael and Randy.

Freddie had boundless energy, and was active in her church, PTA and Allied Gardens Women’s Club. She was active in the National Federation of Republican Women and had a great interest in politics all her life. She worked for many years as the Executive Assistant at the American Institute of Banking in San Diego.

Freddie and Bill returned to Amarillo in the early 1980s to start a new business, Blue Bonnet Leasing, and be closer to her brothers and sisters. They enjoyed their many friends at First Baptist Church, and she became the unofficial party planner for their senior adult Sunday school class. She especially enjoyed singing with the Heritage Choir. Her home was always open for family holidays, where family members would come to celebrate. Special “sweet memories” were created at large Thanksgiving celebrations where there was always a piano, hymnals, singing and great food. She celebrated her 90th birthday with more than 50 family members present in October.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill, and two sons, Michael and Randy.

Survivors include her daughter, Nell Bartlett and husband Jim of San Diego, and grandchildren, Rich Hill and Kris Hill and their families; her daughter, Janice Huddleston and husband Bryan of Salt Lake City, Utah, and grandchildren, John Shank, Eric Shank, Josh Huddleston, Chris Huddleston and Julia Huddleston and their families; a brother, Doyle Beckham and wife Peggy of Pampa, their son, Robert Beckham and wife Darla of Lubbock and daughter Lana Browne and husband Curtis of Lewisville and their families; a sister, Julie Firestone of Amarillo, her son, Ted White and wife Lolly of Folsom, La.; Barbara Snell of Amarillo, Melvin Ogle and wife Sarah of Fort Worth and their families; Charmy Ann Leavell and husband Lonnie of Gooding, Idaho, Paul Wallace of Albuquerque and Jacque McAdams and husband Larry of Albuquerque; 12 great-grandchildren; and numerous great-nieces and great-nephews.
