Harvey L. Henderlight, construction director and for many years an expert with the use of dynamite and high explosives, died at 5;30 p.m. Tuesday at the home of his daughter, Mrs. R.N. West, No 236 Cedar Street, Lincoln Park. He was 67.
Mr. Henderlight's last work was the blasting of the foundation for the Medical Arts Building, West Main Avenue. He was stricken with high blood pressure a year ago and had been confined to his room for months.
He was the father-in-law of Ralph L. Berry, head of Berry's Funeral Home.
Surviving are three sons: Boyd, Elmer, and Roy Henderlight. Six Daughters, Mrs. Berry, Mrs. Sam Henry, Mrs. R.N. West, Mrs. Cecil Cole, all of Knoxville; Mrs. J.E. Bradshaw of Corbin, Ky, and Mrs. C.L. Nevius of Stanford, Ky. also a brother, M.P. Henderlight of Knoxville.
Mr. Henderlight was a member of William McKinney Council, Jr. O.U.A.M. No 53, South Knoxville.
The body will be removed from the home to Berrys Mortuary Chapel at 10 am today. Funeral services will be conducted in the chapel at 2 pm Thursday. The Rev. E.H. Ogle, Pastor of Vestal M.E. Church, The Rev. A.R. Pedigo, Pastor of Immanuel Baptist Church and the Rev. J.T. Bird, Pastor of Oakwood M.E. Church, will officiate. Pallbearers will be nephews, Boyd, Albert, and Bell Mar Turbyville, Harve and John Henderlight and Lon Rutherford. - Knoxville Journal, Wednesday, January 13, 1932
