| Birth: | Nov. 28, 1887 | | Death: | Jul. 2, 1934 | Nazi Leader. A World War I German army officer, he became a close early ally of Hitler. He helped organize and led the SA (Storm Troopers), the Nazi paramilitary, and funnelled aid to the Nazi Party from the German Army during the 1920s. After Hitler came to power in 1933, Roehm became a liability because the German Army and the SS saw the SA as a rival. Hitler had him and many other SA leaders murdered during the notorious "Night of the Long Knives", June 30, 1934. (bio by: Rick Watson)
