Alvin A. Pfeifer, 74, died May 17, 2004 at his home in WaKeeney. He was born Aug. 26, 1929 on the family farm in Graham County, the son of Frank J. and Catherine Dinkel Pfeifer.

He attended St. Anthony's Parochial School, St. Peter. He was an electrical inspector for the City of Aurora, Colo., retiring in 1986. He belonged to Christ the King Catholic Church, WaKeeney, and Fraternal Order of Eagles No. 3774.

On Aug. 23, 1955, he married Anna R. Flax at Ellis. She survives.

Other survivors include four sons, Melvin, Elizabeth, Colo., Gary, Kiowa, Colo., Ronnie, Parker, Colo., and Steve, WaKeeney; two daughters, Sylvia Bingham, Elizabeth, and Mary Backlund, Aurora; three brothers, Clarence, Allen and Lloyd Pfeifer, all of St. Peter; four sisters, Helen Zimmerman, Grainfield, Pauline Zerr, Grinnell, Caroline Flax and Catherine Heier, both of WaKeeney; 20 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Albert.

Funeral Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Christ the King Catholic Church, WaKeeney, with Father Donald F. Pfannenstiel presiding. Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, followed by a wake service, all at Schmitt Funeral Home, WaKeeney. Interment will be in Christ the King Catholic Cemetery, WaKenney.

Memorials may be sent to the church or for Masses, both in care of the funeral home.
