Author, Playwright. She is probably best known for her novel "The Hundred and One Dalmatians", (1956) which was adapted into a Disney animated film "One Hundred and One Dalmatians", (1961). Her other works include "I Capture the Castle" (1948) and the play "Autumn Crocus" (1931). Smith lived the simple life for many years at her seventeenth-century cottage near Finchingfield, England. Her ashes were scattered to the wind as per her wishes.
