Birth: Aug. 29, 1874

Death: Oct. 22, 1960

Thomas Jefferson Taylor was the father of former First Lady of the United States, the late Lady Bird Johnson, who was born Claudia Alta Taylor.

It is interesting to note that Mr. Taylor died just 17 days before his son-in-law Lyndon Baines Johnson was elected to the Vice-Presidency of the United States. LBJ would later become President on the assassination of John F. Kennedy on November 22, 1963 in a motorcade in Dallas, Texas. LBJ was riding in a car behind President Kennedy at the time of the assassination.

Taylor donated to the state about two-thirds of the land in Caddo Lake State Park. His most lasting, though indirect, influence came from his financial backing of his son-in-law when LBJ ran for Congress in 1937.
