Willard Blackinton and Clarisa Sweet were married on April 11, 1822 in Attleboro, Bristol, Massachusetts.


He manufactured guns from a small shop located at the back of his property that was located on North Main Street in Attleboro, MA.

1827 went into the manufacture of power-loom shuttles also from his North Main Street location.

1842 reorganized his shuttle manufacturing operation and renamed it W. Blackinton and Sons.

1860 was living in Attleboro, MA where he was a Shuttle Manufacturer.

1870 was living in Attleboro, MA where he was a Shuttle Manufacturer.


First Post Master of East Attleboro

Served as an Attleboro representative in 1841

Served in the State Senate in 1853

Member of the Massachusetts House of Representatives in 1868.

First President of The First National Bank.


Willard Blackinton died January 1, 1877 of a sudden heart attack while presiding over a meeting between the Board of Directors of the First National Bank of Attleboro.
