Rosalia nee Dydynska (family name is Dydynski) and(actually her Polish name is Ratajska)(born Dydynska in Zbiczno, Poland) was John Ratajski's wife. She was trained as a midwife in Poland.

She came to the USA with two kids (Bernice and and Raymond) both pre-teens in 1892. Her husband John and another daughter (Lottie) traveled individually to Pittsburgh, Pa. in (April 12, 1887 John) and June 20, 1890 for Lottie. Leonard her first son came over by himself in 1891.

Originally, they all settled in Pittsburgh, Pa. area. At some point all were found after 1890 (John and Rose and kids)in New Kensington, Pa. Later John and Rose moved to Hoytdale, Pa. They were known by local people and engaged in helping the community in any way they could.

Rose was of nobility birth in Poland. Her tree line goes back (as found and noted in Warsaw historical books) to the 14th century in Sanok, Poland. The last great king of Poland Casmir the Great awarded her family Peter and Paul (became named Dydynski)line several towns for aiding in Poland's wars.

And, Rose as she liked to be called was a person who got along well with others. Fun loving and enjoyed being in America. Her first grandchild was Joanna (born about Oct. 1892) the child of Leonard and Antonina nee Duchynska. We have a picture with grandmother Rose and later in life the child was known as Annie.

And Rose's (son Leonard's in-laws) who are Anton and Paulina Duchynski's came over to USA and were found In Reading, Pa. So we have a lot of kids being born in USA. Rose being a trained midwife was happly to be involved in the family births of many (professional) other non-family children.

Like all family we missed a grand opportunity to observe her energy and zest for life.

Later she died in Warwick New York May 21, 1918.
She was NOT removed from NY state and sent back to rest besides John. At that time the children and Rose paid for 2 grave plots in Hoytdale, Pa. St. Teresa's Cemetery.

Later in 1918 her son Leonard made arrangements with family in New York to send her to the final resting place. However found he could not afford to send her to a burial alongside John. Instead Rose is buried in St. Stephens Cemetery, Warwick, NY. Section K Lot 15 and grave 6.
