By 1860 he was living in Atlanta, GA where he married Sarah Elizabeth Sparks on 23 Aug 1860. He enlisted Aug 4, 1863 in Capt. Porter's Company, Georgia Infantry (Georgia Railroad Guards) and was a 2d lieutenant. He and Sarah had 8 children. According to his obituary, he was associated with Georgia Railroad for 41 years and then the Atlanta City Construction Dept. for 20 years.
