Walter James Brown, 82, father of Mrs. Roy Parsons of Garretts Bluff community, was found dead of natural causes Saturday morning at his room in the Gibraltar Hotel here. Apparently, he had suffered a heart attack.
He formerly lived at Garretts Bluff, and had been on the sheriff's force at Houston more than 12 years before he retired.
He was born in Paris, November 6, 1876.
His wife, the former Miss Minnie Lee Jarnagin, died in 1927, and he leaves, besides his daughter, these sons: Wayne Brown, Beaumont; M. M. Brown, Baytown, and Jack H. Brown, Houston; four other descendants, and a brother, M. L. Brown of Direct.
Gene Roden & Sons are in charge of funeral services Monday at 2:30 p.m. The service will be at Belk Methodist Church, conducted by the Rev. J. L. Wideman, assisted by the Rev. Henry Mood. Burial will be in Georgia Cemetery.
