A native of Caldwell Parish, Mr. Shirley had spent most of his life in the Tannehill Community. He retired several years ago from dairy farming because of ill health.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Zula Shirley; one son, J. L. Shirley, both of Winnfield; one daughter, Mrs. Jessie Faye Hutchinson, Baton Rouge; three grandchildren; five brothers, C. J. Shirley, Sr., Coushatta, Birl, A. L., and Cas Shirley, of Winnfield, and E. H. Shirley, Baton Rouge; four sisters, Mrs. Sam Dunn and Mrs. Don Thornton, Winnfield; Mrs. E. V. Blair, Dodson, and Mrs. Russell McLemore, Natchitoches.
