April 17, 1915--Swain, W. Taylor, Grand Saline, age 68, born in Alabama in 1847. In Texas over 65 years, in county 60 years. Gray's Company A., Jamisons Regiment Texas Infantry. Enlisted at Tyler, Texas 1863, served until 1865. Witness, R.M. Tunnel, same unit. Served at Tyler, guarded Union soldiers at the stockade, Camp Ford. (Died. February 23, 1926. Grave marked in Union Chapel Cemetery, Smith County, Texas.)

Willaim Taylor Swain's death certificate states that he was born in Texas to Joseph Swain; mother's maiden name Little. He died in Grand Saline, Van Zandt County, Texas.
