Helen ‘Jean’ French, 84, of Rockford died peacefully surrounded by her daughters on Friday, May 1, 2015 at Rockford Memorial Hospital. Born May 12, 1930 in Keota, IA the daughter of William P. and Christina C. (Griener) Adam and was the 8th out of 11 children. Graduated high school in Fairfield, IA and eventually landed in Rockford lovingly raising her family. She is a 50 year member of St. Bernadette Catholic Church and was also involved in various clubs and organizations including “Tri T” Society, Local AM Chapter, Older Women’s League, Seedlings, Forget Me Not Garden Club and the Blackhawk Trails Hiking Club. She was a very kind, caring and active woman, who always took time to cherish her family and friends. Her generosity and love will be missed dearly. The family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you to Morning Star Village, Rockford Memorial Hospital Doctors and nursing staff, and VNA Hospice. Special thanks to her God Daughter, Director of VNA, and her Cardiologist..
Survivors include her four daughters; 11 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; 2 brothers, 3 sisters and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and 5 siblings.
Funeral Mass Tuesday, May 5, 2015 at 11 a.m. at St. Bernadette Catholic Church, 2400 Bell Ave with visitation in the Parish Hall from 10 a.m. – 10: 45 a.m. Burial will be held at Arlington Memorial Park Cemetery, luncheon to follow. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in her name to: Interstitial Cystitis Association; http://www.ichelp.org/. Fitzgerald Funeral Home, Riverside chapel is assisting the family.
