His life was a testimony to his love of Christ. Burl was a hard worker, and retired from Hancock's Upholstery. He also shared a very special bond with his five brothers.

He was preceded in death by his beautiful daughter, Angela Hancock; parents, Fred and Julie Hancock; brothers, Eulis and Ronald Hancock; father-in-law, George McCarter.

Burl is survived by his wife of 56 years, Jessie Hancock; son, Tim Hancock (Jackie); grandchildren, Steve Hancock (Crystal), Ashley Hancock; great-grandchildren, Morgan, Cody, and Tyler Hancock; brothers, Joe Hancock (Barbara), Roy Hancock (Brenda), and Freddie Hancock (Libby); sisters-in-law, Nancy and Reba Hancock; mother in law, Naomi McCarter; former daughter in law, Connie Hancock.

Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday, December 14, 2010 at 7 p.m. in the chapel of Bridges Funeral Home with the Rev. Wayne Trent and the Rev. Archie Elliott officiating. Family and friends will meet at 10:45 am Wednesday at Pollard Cemetery for an 11:0 am interment. Honorary pallbearers will be the deacons of Hillcrest Baptist Church: Gerald Moore, Mike Sharp, and Arthur Webb. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 5:00 - 7:00 pm at Bridges Funeral Home, 5430 Rutledge Pike, 523-4999. www.bridgesfuneralhome.com
