Rafe H. "Red" Wallace, 96, of Lone Oak died at his residence Thursday. Funeral services are at 2 p.m. Sunday at Dixon Baptist Church with Rev. Kelly Carr officiating. Burial is in Forest Park Cemetery.

Son of Jack Wallace and Zella Rowsey Wallace, he was born in Hunt County on Sept. 6, 1901. He and Mary Emma Barnett were married on Sept. 23, 1944 in Lone Oak. He was co-founder of Lone Oak State Bank in 1969 and was former director of that bank.

Mr. Wallace was a well known farmer and rancher in Hunt County. He was a former Hunt County Farmer Emeritus Award recipient, a member of Texas Southwest Cattle Raisers Association, and the American Quarter Horse Association.

He is survived by a daughter, Mary Rafe Wallace of Lone Oak; a brother, Glenn Wallace of Campbell; two sisters, Lena Mays of Greenville and Opal Atkisson of Fallbrook, Calif.; grandchildren Rafe Ann Stone of Bentonville, Ark., Danny Bolch Jr. of Garland and Mary Beth Bolch of Garland and great-grandchildren Bethany Marie Stone, Channing Noel Stone, and Madeline Elaine Stone, all of Bentonville, Ark.

He was preceded in death by his wife on Jan. 5, 1968; brothers Coleman Wallace, Benton Wallace, Claude Wallace and John Wallace and a sister, Ruby Wallace.

Pallbearers are Gerald Williams, Jimmy Williams, Eric Evans, Ray Love, Curtis Fuller, Glen Spoonemore, Eddie Stonestreet and Chester Jackson. Paul Mathews will serve as honorary pallbearer.

Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Coker-Mathews Funeral Home.
