James was the son of James (Sr.) and Elizabeth Mouser Galloway and the husband of Edna Sullivan whom he married 12 Nov 1902 at Nevada County, AR. James and Edna had a daughter, E. Lois (died as a child), and a son, James Clyde. James worked in the sawmilling and lumber business. James and his brothers Martin and Marzook and Martin's oldest son, Zook were principal stockholders in the Galloway Lumber Company, a family owned sawmill operated at Grabow near Deridder, LA in the early 20th century.
