Billy Joe Gann, 77, of Greenwood died Wednesday, July 27, 2005, in a Fort Smith hospital. He was a retired Greenwood fire chief and also worked for Fort Chaffee Fire and Security and as a Sebastian County deputy sheriff. He was a member of the Valley View Church of Christ, a veteran of the Army Air Corps and World War II, and a lifetime member of Harris-Hannah V.F.W. Post No. 6527.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Saturday, July 30 at the Valley Church of Christ in Greenwood with burial at Liberty Cemetery under the direction of McConnell Funeral Home of Greenwood.
Survivors are his wife, Wanza Gann of the home; two daughters, Deanna Gann-DeCroo and husband Ed of Greenwood and Sandra McKinney and husband Richard of Greenwood; one brother, Grady C. Gann and wife Wanda of Greenwood; two sisters, Joy L. Daggett and husband Charles of Greenwood, and Myra Lee Belrose and husband Jerry of Hackett; six grandchildren, Leeann Moses and husband Ryan, Michael Johnson and wife Stacey, John McKinney and wife Rachael, Billy Wolfe and wife Cory, Elizabeth Cribs and husband Ronald, and Coleman Gann; and eight great-grandchildren, Heather Woods, Conner Moses, Aric McKinney, Devin Mae Cribbs, Lexie Wolfe, Dallas Moses, Hank Moses and Tatum Johnson.
Viewing will be 1 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home, where the family will visit with friends from 6 to 7 p.m.
Pallbearers will be Michael Johnson, Billy Wolfe, Coleman Gann, Grady Gann Jr., Larry Daggett, Jody Daggett, Danny Daggett and Ryan Moses. Honorary pallbearer will be John McKinney.
